石川遼が魅力的な3つの理由（1）

石川遼は1991年9月生まれの18歳ですが、すでにゴルフ界の枠を超えてスポーツ界まで代表するスター選手です。

いや、もはやスターではなく、スーパースターですよね。スポンサーは20社を超え、資産を数十億円持ち、キムタクを抜いてCM王になり、日本中からその一挙手一投足を常に注目されているほどですから。

なぜ石川遼はそんなにも人を惹きつけるのか？　

マンタなりにその理由を3つ考えてみました。

まず1つ目の理由ですが、それは「石川遼にはタイムリミットがある」というものです。石川遼は「20歳でマスターズ優勝」と昔から宣言しています。とても有名です。

この「20歳というタイムリミットをつけている」ところが、一番のポイントではないかとマンタは思ってます。たとえば3年後、タイムリミットを過ぎても夢を叶えていかったとしたら、たとえ彼が凄くてもファンの数は減ってしまうんじゃないでしょうか？

あと3年。壮大な夢に挑戦できるのは、あと3度だけ。

このタイムリミットがあるスッキリした点が、石川遼の魅力の核だと思うんです。

よく、エンターテイメントの小説を面白くする仕掛けにも「タイムリミットを作れ」とありますね。人間、タイムリミットがあると集中してしまうようです。そして物語の結末を知りたがる習性も持っています。ゴールが明確で、それを達成できる可能性もあり、その期限まで定められていると、見ている者はドキドキ楽しみつつも安心して物語の結末を追ってしまうようです。

この「期限」ですが、どれくらいの長さがベストなんでしょうか？　10年とか、あんまり長いと見ているのも大変ですね。そのあいだにいろんな状況が変わってしまいます。ゴールの価値に比例して、見ている時間は長く設定できそうですが、結果の出るのが10年後だと、ずっと注目しているのは難しいです。

かといって、1ヶ月とか、短か過ぎても物足りないですね。オリンピックみたいにその期間だけは見るのを楽しめても、それが終わればあっという間に忘れ去られて、後はあんまり話題にも出ません。短期間の物語は短期間で忘れられてしまいます。

つまり、3年くらいが、ちょうどいいのではないでしょうか。まさに石川遼のこれからの3年。皆さん毎日忙しく暮らしていても、たまにニュースで石川遼の動向を知り、壮大な夢が少しずつ進んでいくのを確認して、また続きを待つ。と過ごしているうちに、いつのまにか石川遼のファンになる人もいるのでは？

もちろん、石川遼が15歳で全国的に注目されてから、もう2年が過ぎています。「そんなら計5年になるじゃん」という声も聞こえてきそうですが、当時はまだ「石川遼がマスターズに優勝できる」とは誰も本気で思わなかったと思います。たしかに凄い記録をいくつも達成していましたが、だからといって「マスターズに優勝できる」という感じではなかった。やはり現実味は薄かったんです。

しかし、日本の賞金王となり、名実ともに日本のトップとなった今では違います。それは夢物語でなくなりました。石川遼自身が、「夢から、目標に変わった」というように、たとえ世界と日本のゴルフに歴然とした差があっても、マスターズ優勝は「目標にすることすらありえない」から、「もしかして」に変わったのです。

実際、去年のマスターズは推薦出場でした。つまり、18歳で賞金王になってからの、今年、来年、再来年の3度の挑戦が、本当の挑戦ではないでしょうか？　タイムリミットがあり、それゆえに魅力的な3度の挑戦。それをリアルタイムで見られる楽しさ、これが石川遼が魅力的な理由だと思います。

2つ目の理由は、また後日アップしますね。

Japanese teen golf star Ryo Ishikawa left for Thailand on Tuesday to launch his 2010 season at this week's Royal Trophy team tournament, the day after he received an invitation to the US Masters.

"I got it unexpectedly last year. But I was eagerly waiting for it this year," Ishikawa, the Japan Tour's 2009 money leader, said as he showed the Masters invitation to Japanese media at Narita airport.

ransitions Optical announced today that Japanese golf phenom, Ryo Ishikawa, has accepted a sponsor's exemption and will compete for the second year in a row at the Transitions Championship, which tees off March 15 -21, 2010 on the Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Resort in Innisbrook, Florida.

"I am truly honored to be asked to compete again in this year's Transitions Championship along with many of the best players in the world," said Ishikawa. "I look forward to returning to the U.S. to play the challenging Copperhead Course."
